Till around 1962, Noor Jehan was not giving playback but largely singing for herself. It was during this time that Naseem Begum was at the top as a playback diva.The moment Noor Jehan started giving playback, Naseem Begum's career went downhill. She continued to sing few songs here and there till her untimely demise but could never regain the previous position. Had Noor Jehan been into playback singing before 1961-62, Naseem would not have been at the top. Well, it is unfair to say that Naseem posed threat to Noor Jehan.
