Badli teri nazar – Badi Bahu (1951) – Anil Biswas – Lata Mangeshkar – Raag Jaijaiwanti
Initially, I had some hesitation in placing this song in the domain of Jaijaiwanti, since the lower notes of the raag Ni Sa Re Ni Dh Pa Re is missing in the asthai. However, Pa Ga Ma Re Ga Re Sa of the middle octave painted the picture of the raag. Further, the use of both komal and tivar Gandhars as well as both Nikhads also strengthened the feeling that the melody was based on Jaijaiwanti.
It is possible that Anil Biswas had Kamode also lurking in his mind, but he was soon carried away by the Ni Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ga Ma Re Ga Re Sa taan of Jaijaiwanti.
In the first antra the composer uses the typical Malhar taan of Ma Pa Ni Dh Ni Sa, using both Nikhads.
The song was sung by Lata perhaps from doosra sufaid and in daadra taal. Piano and violins and some touches of Hawaiian guitar are dominating the orchestra – S.M. Shahid
