Miscellaneous Info – Lovely Bengal star and popular socialite Meera Misra started her career opposite Dilip Kumar and Pahadi Sanyal in Bombay Talkies’ Milan (1946). Later she appeared in few Hindi films with nationalistic content including Kashmir Hamara Hai (1950) and Azadi Ke Baad (1951). Performance wise, the greatest film of her career was Chhoti Maa (1952), her own production where she played a very tragic role and according to Filmfare, “Meera Misra in Chhoti Maa and Meena Kumari in Daaera have both reached great heights in the portrayal of tragic roles”. Other than Hindi films, she also acted in few Bengali films including Naukadubi (1947) [Bengali version of Milan (1946)], Eki Gramer Chheley (1950) etc

She married Mr. R.K. Gupta, I.C.S., Chairman of the Port Commissioners, Calcutta in September, 1953 and ended her film career.
