Salma Agha’s mother Nasreen (real name Zarina Ghaznavi/Agha) acted in 2 pre-partition films – Shahjehan (1946) opposite Pandit Jairaj and K.L. Saigal and Ek Roz (1947) opposite Veena’s husband Al-Nasir. Although very pretty during her younger years, Nasreen wasn’t a very good actress.

Salma Agha’s mother Nasreen Akhtar was the heroine of ‘Shahjehan’ and she sang a song in this film, ‘Aag lagi dil mein kuch aisee…’Her voice had was charming, no doubt, but she appears to have sung very few songs.
You say that she acted in just two films ‘Shahjehan’ and ‘Ek Roz’. But I very well remember havind heard a song of ‘Pehli Nazar’(1945, which was sung by Mukesh and Nasreen Akhtar. The refrain of the song was, “Jawani yeh bharpur dilkash nazare…’ How come that she sang this song for this film? Did she also act in this film or did she just playback for some other heroine? The main actors of ‘Pehli Nazar’ were Moti Lal and Veera.

You are confusing Nasreen with Naseem Akhtar (playback singer). It was Naseem Akhtar who sang “Aag lagi dil mein” for Nasreen in Shah Jehan. Here is the profile of Naseem Akhtar -

Thanks for correcting me. Now I know that Nasreen Akhtar and Naseem Akhtar are two different entities. Anyhow,the song, ‘Jwani yeh bharpur dilkash adaayen…’ sung by Mukesh and Naseem Akhtar is a charmer.
