May I present you some information on Rattan kumar, which I have ?
Rattan Kumar, who did the role of innocent SHAKTI in Jagriti(1954),migrated to Pakistan with his family and settled in Lahore.Initially he did some child roles and then adult roles. Many of his films were produced by his brother Wazir Ali.His first film in Pakistan was Masoom and the last was Daastaan-1969.Then he stopped getting roles and disappeared from public eye.
BEDARI(1957),his most famous film was a carbon copy of Jagriti-1954 of India. It dealt with Pakistan’s national sentiments and was a collosal success, mainly due to songs that the Music Director Fateh Ali Khan adapted(read plagairised)from the original tunes-all 4 of them.
All songs were same with changes in Lyrics to suit Pakistani locales.Mahatma Gandhi was replaced with ‘Quaid-e-azam’ or ‘Baba-e-azam’.
Atleast one song “Aye Quaid-e-Azam tera ehsaan hai ehsaan” is available on You Tube for those interested in seeing.
You can see Rattan Kumar, with crutches and specks, singing this song, just like in Jagriti.
