Miscellaneous Info - Geeta Nizami made her debut with Najam Naqvi’s Panna (1944), where she was cast opposite Jairaj in the leading role. Panna was also the most famous film of her career. She was cast as the leading lady in few other films including Room No. 9 before she was reduced to supporting roles in Gajre, Beqasoor and Hulchul. She left for Pakistan in the early 50s and settled down in Karachi as a married housewife. She never acted in any Pakistani film (as far as I know). She passed away on April 28th, 2008 in Karachi, Pakistan.
There are some unconfirmed rumors that she is the younger sister of Mumtaz Shanti (the girl who acted with Ashok Kumar in Kismet (1943)). Can someone confirm this?

I don’t think she was Mumtaz Shanti Ji’s sister. That seems very unlikely. I also feel, though, that Panna (1944) was her first film. Paro (1947) also had her as a leading lady, this was the first time Rajkumari Banaraswali Ji (who often sang for her) actually playbacked for her, under great Indo – Pak composer Rashid Attre Jehan Ji (considering that the latter’s voice was only in the records and not film in Panna).
