She was reasonably educated and was interested in joining the film industry since childhood. Her family was dead against her joining the film industry, but somehow she succeeded in convincing her mother to let her join the film industry. She joined Shakti Movietone in 1934 and appeared in three films produced by them in 1935 – Azadi, Sajiv Murti and Sati Toral. Later, she worked for many other film companies too.

Unfortunately, none of her films fared well at the box-office. She married music director Anil Biswas and became his first wife. She is survived by four children. (Some of the material has been taken from the Urdu book Filmi Titliyan – Courtesy of Surjit Singh - Click here to visit the Source)
