Raheela, popularly known as Deeba, was born on August 1, 1947 in Ranchi, India. Dusky and dramatic, and armed with a Mona Lisa smile, Deeba walked into the hearts of cine-goers with her typically romantic, twinkle-toe entry into the dream screen. She started her career as a child-star. Miss 56, followed by Wah Ray Zamanay and Faisla were her famous films as child artiste and she was paid with biscuits instead of money.
Later, she was cast as the leading lady in Fazal Kareem Fazli’s most talked about film, Charagh Jalta a Raha, which gave us so many stars including Mohammad Ali and Zeba. She became the talk of tinsel town when she played a loveable rural girl in Khalil Qaiser’s revolutionary film, Khamosh Raho. In the coming years, she worked in many hits, including Aaina, Sangdil, Aneela, Neend Hamari Khwab Tumharey, Shama, Aag Aur Aansoo, etc.
Deeba married camera man Naeem Rizvi in 1971 and left silver-screen for 10 years. However, financial hardships made her join film industry again in 1987 as character actress.
