Chhupa Rustam (1973) – Review

A professor finds a golden temple buried somewhere in the Indo-China border, after an earthquake. The villain kidnaps him but going through his books he is unable to locate the temple because he cannot decipher the codes. Enters the C.I.D. officer with his side-kick to foil the attempt of the villain. The heroine is the damsel in distress and the daughter of a millionaire. Her mother is held captive by the villain. The C. I. D. officer crushes the villain and rescues the damsel in distress and both fall in love.

A familiar but complicated theme, with multiple characters set against each other, the unfolding of the plot and treatment is good. But the story is hollow.

Dev Anand is off colour. Vijay Anand as the side-kick of Dev, is good. Hema Malini has not much scope.
